Myself and Treats at Miami Art Works

Here is another image from the installation of myself with my work. I also took sugar cookies to decorate with red frosting and sprinkles; a sample is shown here.

Here are some photos of the Ebb & Flow Journal as installed at Miami Art Works. The display crept into the bathroom and will be up for a year, raising awareness and garnering donations of feminine care products for those in need.

Origins of this Project

This project evolved out of a Kiss of Love campaign Red Alert: You've got a napkin! raising awareness of basic female reproductive & hygeine rights violations in India (and globally). The campaign calls for sanitary napkins to be sent to the ASMA Rubber company in response to a strip search of employees prompted by the discovery of a used sanitary napkin found in the company's toilet.

This also continues my ongoing series of works exploring menstruation & female reproductive health and my ongoing work with Life Blood Exhibit, a traveling art show devoted to the same topic. Artworks for this blog are created in cycles (to mimic & respond to menstruation) with suites and groupings of pantiliners done at the same time and then posted on a daily basis to serve as daily reminders.
